Externalized Kills-per-Progress Point Ratios

Originally, while we were able to determine how many progress points can be earned from killing enemies, we could not set how many enemies must be killed PER POINT. The original values were hardcoded, and are based on difficulty:


  • NOVICE: 7 kills per progress point.
  • EXPERIENCED: 10 kills per progress point.
  • EXPERT: 15 kills per progress point.
  • INSANE: 60 kills per progress point!!

HAM allows us to change each of these ratios independently. This should be self explanatory.

INI Settings Edit

This Externalization has four different INI settings, each controlling a different Game Difficulty level.

NUM_KILLS_PER_PROGRESS_POINT_NOVICE Edit

NUM_KILLS_PER_PROGRESS_POINT_EXPERIENCED Edit

NUM_KILLS_PER_PROGRESS_POINT_EXPERT Edit

NUM_KILLS_PER_PROGRESS_POINT_INSANE Edit

Effect

Controls the number of enemy kills required to gain a single Progress point. One setting for each difficulty level in the game.

Range 1 - 1000
JA2 Default Value 7, 10, 15, 60

You must kill 7, 10, 15, or 60 enemy men to get a single Progress points, at NOVICE, EXPERIENCED, EXPERT, and INSANE levels respectively.

HAM Recommended Value 7, 10, 15, 60 This setting is there just so you can change it if you want. I personally find no problem with the current settings, but if you want to slow down or speed up the progress of the game, consider these settings thoroughly.
Notes

Also make sure you consult the JA2 INI setting named GAME_PROGRESS_KILLS. It sets the maximum number of points you can get from killing enemies.
